Closes at 2pm or we'd be there all day! These are other worldly donuts. They make them in small batches so they are as fresh as can be. I have had a freshly made warm maple doughnut and it was so warm, I had to eat it with a fork. It was melt in your mouth deliciousness. There's usually a special and believe me, these aren't cheap! But go for the special! It's always worth it. The filled donuts are always great. The Brown Butter donut is amazing. Also quite a few Gluten free donuts! Any one you choose will be one you'll go back for again! Love this place tucked in a shopping center - worth finding. Lots of parking. Always great service!

There's nothing not to like about JD Flannel! The donuts were ALL delicious. The texture and toppings/icing/glaze on each one was perfect and still had that nice sort of crispy glaze even after sitting in my kitchen for a while! I was thoroughly impressed. The place itself is so cute and classic. The service was amazing and everybody I spoke to was super kind and friendly. Additionally, their cappuccinos were great, and even had a good amount of foam considering we ordered them with oat milk. I highly recommend the brown butter sea salt and lemon blueberry donuts. While all were good, those were by far our favorites. The variety of flavors in store was super enticing and I'd love to go back to try all of the others! I can't get enough of delicious and creative pastries like these.

Hi I love your donuts! Your donuts are so fabulous and amazing and I'm so happy that you have gluten-free. Thank you for supplying really good donuts in orange county.

I've stopped by here before for a donut but today I decided to treat myself to a donut and a coffee while reading the paper. What a great chilled place! I ordered the utterly delicious Brown Butter Sea Salt donut. It was rich and moist and as perfect as a donut could be. I loved it. The Americano coffee I ordered with it was well prepared, a good cup of coffee. The woman who served me, who I think was the owner, was super friendly. You can sit inside or outside. I chose outside. The ambiance indoors and outdoors was great: people happy with their donuts and coffee. When I'm looking for a simple, delicious treat I'll come back here. Plus, lots more donuts to try!

5/5 for quality and taste. This may not be the "best" donut shop but it's definitely my favorite donut place. To begin with, everyone has different "types" of donuts that they love--raised, cake, old fashioned, cruller, long john, filled, jammed, glazed, or even frosted. This place ranks my top because they offered a balance of cake and raised donuts (my favorite types are cake and old fashioned). They don't carry buttermilk bars, cruller, or "bar" donuts (e.g., long johns). Their old fashioned is fine, but it's not overly "melt in your mouth" type. Same as their cake donuts. They tasted like "yeasted" cake dough (as opposed to leavening with baking powder), which means it has a little "bounce" to the texture that I enjoyed. In my trip this time, I tried the July monthly flavor--banana chocolate chips and tropical cake donuts. Both are amazing; imagine fried banana bread and pineapple coconut cupcake in donut form. The Dinger is chocolate raised donut with chocolate glaze and whipped cream--basically imagine a Ding Dong that's not caked. I liked it but it was a little bland. Boysenberry, which I had before, felt relatively tamed this time; the glaze holds all the flavor, but the donut itself did not really stand out for me.

I'm not really sure my review is needed to express the absolutely wonder, excitement and greatness of this business. I mean, pretty much everyone else rates it high as well. I, as with may others, stopped here after hearing about this being (According to Yelp) the Best Donut Shop in California this year. I had a business trip planned to San Diego from Pasadena and stopped on my way back on 07/24/2024. I have had a lot of donuts in my life (not necessarily a good thing); however, this are hands down the best donuts I have had so far in my life. I'm not even sure what it is about them. They just taste different, they just taste fresher, they seem to pack more flavor. I got six donuts today. I tried a sample of each one of them. I got the Brown Butter and Sea Salt; Banana Chocolate chip, Buttermilk Old Fashioned, The Dinger, Tropical Delight and Blueberry Lemon. They were just all fantastic. Can you start franchising...I might just open one here in LA county! In all seriousness, just amazing. And thank you for having very friendly staff. That makes all the difference, and I look forward to stopping by again in the future.

Amazingly delicious donuts. I can understand why this was voted as a Yelp favorite. The donuts are soft and fluffy and not doughy. They also offer gluten free options which taste the same as the regular donuts. The lines are manageable even though it was a weekend. The donut shop is in a plaza with plenty of parking. The only regret is not ordering more. We would definitely come back here for high quality donuts.

We were in the area to grab lunch but arrived before the location opened. With time on our hands, we walked to JD Flannel to grab something to-go. There was a line out the door, but it moved quickly. It gave us time to see what flavors were available and see fresh donuts being made. I really wanted to try everything and debated on grabbing a half dozen, but husband got sticker shock for one donut lol. Instead, I settled on two to see if it's worth it. The boysenberry ($4.50) was a vanilla cake donut with topped with a house-made boysenberry glaze, which was truly bursting with berry goodness. I could crush a few of these in a sitting, but interested in trying their Blueberry Lemon next. The seasonal Mexican Chocolate Churro ($5.50) blew me away! It was a raised donut tossed in cinnamon and filled with Mexican chocolate ganache and topped whipped cream. It took me two days to finish as it gets a little sweet and heavy, but every bite was heavenly. Since the flavors rotate seasonally, I'm excited to see what other combos they come up with. It's a special treat to enjoy when you wanna treat yourself and yes, I think it's definitely worth a try.

I came here because I had to try the Best Donuts in California. I thought it was good. These are the juiciest donuts of my life. Every bite was oily, but it still somehow felt light. Of all of them, the old fashioned was my favorite. It was very crispy on the outside with that juiciness inside. Reading other reviews, I don't think any of these were supposed to be juicy. The chocolate was good. The chocolate is way better quality than regular "chocolate donut" dipping. Solid choice and not too sweet. The Mexican Chocolate Churro donut had clashing flavors. The actual donut doesn't have much cinnamon flavor despite being packed in cinnamon. The cream was good. The ganache had a very strong chocolate flavor, with a bit of bitterness. It tasted like it had coffee, but the description online suggests I'm wrong. Together, you get some bitterness and big strong chocolate ganache flavor with light creamy flavor and a light and fluffy donut, I don't think it's very successful. Vanilla bean was definitely a sharing donut. It's super sweet, eating 1/4 of one would be AMAZING. Any more and my sentiment falls off a cliff because the sugar hit. My second picture is the chocolate donut inside. It has an air cavern right below the surface and you can see that light oil layer. It's not bad, just unexpected. All in all, I'm a little surprised it's the best donuts in California, but overall I thought it was good.

Food (5/5 stars): This is the best donut I've ever had. I found JD Flannel Donuts and Coffee in San Juan Capistrano on Yelp's Best Donuts in the US, and I can confirm that it's the best in CA. The donuts were fluffy and had a nice lightness to them. The Maple Bacon was heavenly. The maple was fresh and perfectly sweet while the bacon was thick, fatty, and caramelized to perfection. And they didn't skimp on the maple or bacon--every bite transported me to my happy place. If you're in the Orange County area or willing to make the trip, you must try JD's! Experience (5/5 stars): * Price: worth every penny * Wait Time: minimal at 11 on a weekday * Service: very good and friendly! * Parking: there's a parking lot * Ambiance: very nice, modern shop
